General Background in Prenatal Yoga

Learn the basics of prenatal yoga including benefits of the practice, differentiating between high risk/non-high risk pregnancies, and how to create a safe studio space for pregnant women.

Techniques, Training & Practice

This section covers the nitty-gritty of prenatal yoga techniques including pranayama, asana, and meditation practices that are appropriate for each trimester.

Teaching Methodology

Our teaching methodology section covers essentials of class management, including cueing and pacing for both beginner and advanced yoga students by trimester.

Prenatal Anatomy & Physiology

The science behind prenatal yoga. Some topics include female anatomy, systems of the body, muscles and bones used during yoga, and biomechanics and contraindications during pregnancy.

Yogic Philosophy, Lifestyle, and Ethics

This section features a comprehensive review of the origins and foundations of yoga, the 8 limbs of yoga, Patañjali’s Yoga Sutras, and the Bhagavad Gita.

Class Observations/Teaching Practicum

Students observe and practice teaching first, second, and third trimester prenatal yoga classes.

Elective:
Partner Yoga & Chair Yoga

Provide a more comprehensive experience for your pregnant students with breathing techniques and poses used in chair yoga and partner yoga.

Ashley is a Yoga Alliance certified RYT 500, RPYT and RCYT yoga teacher. She received a B.A. in English and double minors in Business Administration and Environmental Science from UC Berkeley, a M.Sc. from The London School of Economics, and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. She worked for Kirkland & Ellis LLP as a corporate restructuring attorney.

Peter offers yoga classes in Spanish & English. He began in 1998 to help make a difference in people’s lives through the healing power of touch. Peter loves working in the wellness industry as it allows for physical, mental and emotional growth for him. Peter is licensed in Massage Therapy (Swedish Institute), Certified in Positional Therapy (Kripalu), Certified Yoga Teacher (Pranotthan), and Certified Personal Trainer.

Clio is bilingual and offers classes in Spanish & English. She has been practicing yoga for over 15 years and has spent many years attending yoga ashrams in India, France and Spain. Clio has trained intensively with Sharelove.Fund and is now an RPYT, RCYT, and RYT 500 ShareLove graduate. She is from Ireland, but based in Barcelona where she has her own yoga and music studio.
